About the artist
Hello, my name is Camille Stokes, and I'm a mixed media artist. If you've gotten this far, you've probably seen my work and no doubt noticed a few overarching themes. I've been interested and involved with creating art for as long as I've been alive. I started my official art journey in my senior year of high school and have been pursuing it as a career ever since. As I grew, I started exploring more mediums and branching out; this eventually led my art to become an emotional outlet, a way to communicate with the world. I fell in love with macabre and gothic themes early on, and they continue to permeate my work to this day. I am inspired by artists such as Titian, Beth Cavener, George Tooker, and Artemisia Gentileschi.
I am also intensely interested in art history, and study it recreationally. Religious themes present in pre-Protestant Reformation Europe play an especially big role in my inspirations. I am currently studying art in school and intend to pursue it professionally, and I consider myself intensely lucky to be able to do so. Art is a huge part of my life, personality, and leisure. I thank everyone who has encouraged me to continue to pursue it; it truly has become one of my favorite things.
